Overview

Screenshot Capture & Share ("the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps you capture, annotate, and share screenshots. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is used.

Data We Do Not Collect

The extension does not collect, transmit, store, or share any of the following:

• Personal identification information
• Browsing history or web activity
• Keystrokes, mouse movements, or user activity
• Financial or authentication information
• Location data
• Website content beyond what you explicitly choose to screenshot

No analytics, tracking scripts, or third-party data collection services are used in this extension.

Screenshot Data

Screenshots you capture are stored only in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) temporarily, solely to pass the image between the extension popup and the editor page. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to upload it to Google Drive.

Google Drive Integration

If you choose to connect your Google Drive account, the extension uses Google's OAuth 2.0 to obtain an access token. This token is used exclusively to:

• Upload screenshot files to your own Google Drive
• Generate a shareable link for the uploaded file

The extension only requests the drive.file scope, which limits access to files it creates — it cannot read or access any other files in your Drive. Your Google credentials are never stored by the extension.

Clipboard Access

The clipboardRead and clipboardWrite permissions are used only when you explicitly interact with clipboard functionality in the editor (e.g., pasting an image or copying a screenshot). The extension does not read your clipboard at any other time.

Desktop & Screen Capture

When you use the "Entire Screen & App Window" feature, the extension uses the browser's getDisplayMedia API, which always shows a system prompt requiring your explicit permission before capturing anything. The captured image is processed locally and never sent anywhere without your action.

Permissions Explanation

• activeTab — to capture the visible area of the current tab
• scripting — to inject a small script that temporarily hides sticky navbars during full-page scroll capture
• storage — to temporarily hold screenshot data between extension pages
• unlimitedStorage — because large PNG screenshots can exceed Chrome's default storage quota
• downloads — to save screenshots to your device
• identity — for Google OAuth so you can connect your Drive
• desktopCapture — to capture your screen or app windows
• contextMenus — to add a right-click shortcut for quick capture
• clipboardRead / clipboardWrite — for clipboard paste/copy in the editor

Third Parties

The only third-party service the extension communicates with is Google Drive (via googleapis.com), and only when you explicitly choose to upload a screenshot. No data is sold or shared with any other party.

Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL and the "Last updated" date will be revised.
